Its All A Bunch Of Mumbo Jumbo

Ever have those days where nothing goes as planned, the kids have turned into demons and you feel like you are living in some warped universe where everything is crazy and you wonder if you are losing your mind?

Today has felt that way for me. It all started normally, John is on lates so was up early with the kids letting me have the last lay in opportunity for the week. I got up at my own leisure (how many mums can say that!) and sorted myelf out.
John went off to work at 1.30 as usual and i had planned on going through the kids clothes to see what they needed, what they'd grown out of, what they needed for school etc. Just as id sat down to begin, the door went.
I knew mum had planned on popping round but its never usually that early. Mums visits always bring trepidation for me. I do love to see her, its company for me for a while when John is at work, and the kids adore their nanny so everyone is happy. This includes our 7 month old puppy Billy the beagle.

He is a complete and utter tornado of destruction. He adores my mum more than anyone else (so you'd think) and goes absolutely WILD when he sees her.
Today he went even more beserk than usual and ended up leaving a big scratch across Sophie's leg. He then thought he would growl at me when i grabbed hold of him to stop him rampaging across the room and hurting others. I was extremely angry and mums other half took him outside to calm the situation down.
All of this happened in the short space of 2 mins.
The trying on of clothes was quickly abandoned and everyone piled outside to play and it was ok for the time being.
After mum left i had a quick sort out of the clothes after being nagged by Tayla and did a quick list of everything i need to buy them for school. Luckily Tayla only needs a few bits but Katie needs everything (as i thought she would since shes going into reception in september).

While all this has been going on, i have also been toilet training Sophie (as mentioned in a previous blog). She has been doing really well and ive become, for the third time, a parent who is always boring others about her child's toileting achievements.
So here i go: This week she has progressed from the potty to the toilet. So far she has just been in her undies and t-shirt but from today i wanted to add leggings to the mix. She did ok. We had one accident but i managed to take her to the vets and back (for the dogs special dietry food), get her through dinner, and right up until bedtime with no accidents. Woohoo!
That was her first outing without a nappy. We took her with nappy to Tesco yesterday for the food shop and the nappy was dry once we got home. We just arent brave enough to try a longer trip out yet given that she is still getting used to the toilet, wearing clothes and remembering to go (ie not having accidents).
I am determined that by September, when she starts full time nursery, she will go in on her first day wearing knickers instead of a nappy/pullup.

So its been one of those days, a bit of this, bit of that, nothing has gone as planned, my head is a wee bit fuzzy and i was happy to shut the kids bedroom door at bedtime this evening. Evidently they were too as i didnt hear a peep from them, they all went straight to sleep.
By the time id fed the animals, taken the dog out for the toilet and got my own dinner in, it was half way through the soaps and what else can you do as a mum? Sigh and just be grateful for the peace you now have lol.
